Our specialty classes are for those looking to take their practice to a new level. We currently offer:
SUP Pilates
Standup Paddleboarding has become an increasingly popular sport in the area. Take your practice to the water and challenge your balance and stability with a floating Pilates mat! Our SUP Pilates classes include both Pilates and paddle time, a perfect way to add some cardio to your routine. Boards are launched from Dangerfield Island, Ft. Belvoir, or other desired locations on the Potomac depending upon wind and weather conditions. This is a seasonal offering, available during months when the water is warm. Boards and flotation devices are included, however we ask that you be a strong swimmer to partake in SUP Pilates classes. Inquire for more details.
Pre- and Post-Natal Pilates Classes
Pilates is a great way to prepare for birth. Pre-natal classes focus on pelvic floor strengthening and stretching as well as keeping the whole body strong and flexible in a safe range of exercises. Classes will focus on the mind/body connection, helping women work with their changing bodies to stay healthy and happy. We work with each client individually in order to create a program specific to the needs of each pregnant woman.
Post-natal Pilates addresses the body after birth. Whether suffering from diastisis recti or just looking to get back in shape after baby – even if it’s been a year since giving birth – these classes are designed to help women safely return to exercise.
Laura is a graduate of the Pre- and Post- Natal Specialist program created by Carolyne Anthony of the Center for Women’s Fitness.
